Blatchford Control Tower
Before the Edmonton City Centre Airport, there was Blatchford Field. Active since the early 1900s, it shaped the city's aviation history. In 2014 the City of Edmonton approved redeveloping the decommissioned airport into a sustainable urban community expected to house about 30,000 people. Today little of the airport remains except the control tower, now overlooking the Blatchford neighborhood, named after a former mayor. I played a small role as the Alberta land surveyor who registered the first subdivision plan for phase 1 development. Landscape orientation.
